The number five ranked in the Shooto's lightweight category, Katsuya Toida is finally getting his wish. Ever since he fought in August's HEAT show as the replacement for an injured Hatsu Hioki, this fighter from Keishu-kai always expressed his wish to fight Hioki. Its because "Two years ago, I was supposed to fight Hioki but the fight got cancelled due to my injury." For Toida who lost to Lion Takeshi in November, he needs this win to maintain his place in the ranking hoping for another title shot.
Hioki went through two close decision losses this year but came back with a win in a very tough fight against TUF veteran Brian Geraghty in November's HEAT show, so he is looking to stay on the winning track. For Hioki who currently ranks tenth in Shooto ranking, a win over Toida means he can be in the mix for the hunt for the title.
